The Organic Lipstick

Wikipedia describes lipstick as “Lipstick is a cosmetic product containing pigments, oils, waxes, and emollients that applies color, texture, and protection to the lips.” Lipstick has been used by women since the beginning of the civilization even during Mesopotamian as well as Indus Valley Civilisation.

Today millions of women are using lipstick everyday, infact many times in a day. But do we stop to think that maybe we are applying the chemicals directly to our skin? Research says that lipsticks contain many harmful and toxic chemicals including lead.  You can read about it here & here.

Do we have a choice? Apparently yes. Soul tree has launched organic ayurvedic lipstick. It is made of Organic & Non-toxic elements and does not contain Paraben or Lead.

It claims that its lipstick contains ‘Natural origin colours, Organic sweet almond oil, wild honey and essence of rose’.

It has listed its ingredients as:

**from essential oils.

From the ingredient list above some of the names are self explanatory such as Butyrum(clarified butter), Prunus Dulcis(sweet almond) oil, Natural Vit E & Honey.

Some ingredients are also natural such as  Castor Oil (Ricinus Communis Oil), Kokum butter (Garnicia Indica Butter), Camphor (Cinnamomum Camphora), Rose Oil (Rosa Damscana Oil), two types of natural waxes (Candelilla and Carnauba wax which is extracted from the leaves of the carnauba palm, Copernicia cerifera) and two naturally occurring scents (Citronellol & Geraniol)

While the other ingredients have been listed as safe and non-toxic as per Environmental Working Group (EWG) which is one of the largest database of Cosmetic Chemicals.

I have not used this lipstick, but am planning to buy one. Have you used it? Can you give us a review of the product? Is the post enough to motivate you to try it once?

I would love to hear from you.

Love
