Wrap Them Up

In the last few posts, we have been talking about gifts. So now is the time to wrap them up!!!

Here are some ideas to notch up your ecolicious gift a lil bit higher. Wrap them in equally innovative green wraps. Not only are these earth friendly, but also pocket friendly as well as easey-peasy.

Use Newspapers
Spruce them with little flowers, laces, buttons or any other idea

 Fabrics make great gift wrap

Just wrap them and tie with a ribbon or bow and you are ready to shine

Baskets make it all look it like a gift from fairies

Go to your garden to make it truly green

Spruce them up
For the artistically challenged like me, an easy no-sew way to spruce up the gift packets.
Tutorial for this can be found on My Sparkle.

Rakhi Gifts - Ecoliciously Organic!!!

Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there.
                                                                                                                                                    Amy Li

Wishing you all a very Happy Raksha Bandhan.

Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi is an important Hindu festival which celebrates the relationship of brother and sister. On this auspicious day, sisters tie rakhi (the sacred thread) on their brothers' wrist symbolizes the sister's love and prayers for her brother's well-being, and the brother's lifelong vow to protect her.

This year there has been some confusion on the exact date of Rakhi, with some pandits saying that Rakhi is on 20th August as it is the full moon day, while some saying that though it is full moon day the auspicious time to tie rakhi is after 8.30 p.m and since these festivals should be celebrated in morning, hence rakhi should be celebrated on 21st August.

Whichever day you choose to celebrate this festival, an ecoliciously organic gift will always be the winner for you. Here are some choices for your gift.

For your health conscious sister, you can choose from an array of organic chocolates. Many online sites are also selling it. You can also find them in stores such as Godrej's Nature Basket.

A basket of collection of exotic and organic tea.

A hamper of organic skin care range. You can get them online.

Organic make up range.

A basket of exotic hand made soap range.

A beautiful bonsai for the ones with the green thumb.

Lead and Paraben free perfumes.

Let your imagination run wild. Your gifts will stand out in the array of gifts and you will be appreciated for your thought, that's for sure. You surely are going to get this comment.

Happy Independence Day

Parabens, Sulfates, Silicones, Petrochemicals, Glycols, Phthalates, Lead, Synthetic colours, Artificial flovours..........What do these have in Common?

These are chemicals which are either present in our food or in the cosmetics that we use.

Large scale use of pesticides and chemical fertilizers have led to highly toxic food (Remember the Satyamev Jayate episode?). So no matter how carefully we buy our veggies and fruits, and no matter how much we clean and wash them, they would still be laced with chemicals.I am not trying to scare you, but just trying to help in making an informed choice.

The same goes with cosmetics. No matter how high priced the brand is, these are most certainly laced with chemicals.

Though disturbing, but we all know that it is not surprising. So lets exercise our Rights of Choice and give ourselves and our loved ones FREEDOM from Chemicals, Pesticides and Additives.

And as they say - 'All big journeys start with one little step'

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY
